"Ethnolinguistic identity is a complex notion covering both linguistic and ‘ethnic’ features. An ethnolinguistic identity would emerge at the confluence of a sense of belonging to a language community (‘speakers of X’) and a sense of belonging to an ‘ethnic’ community.
